Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has compared Liam Cooper to John Terry.
Whilst speaking about Cooper, Gray said, “He is very enthusiastic, you get players like that that pick other people up. You look at the likes of John Terry when he was at Chelsea. He is a leader, and I think he has that in his make-up, Liam Cooper, to be a leader.”
Terry, who joined Aston Villa this summer, is regarded as one of the greatest English players of the modern generation after a successful 22 year spell with Chelsea during which he won the Premier League five times and the Champions League once.
Cooper has been on the books of the Whites since 2014 after joining from Chesterfield. He signed a new four year contract with the club last August and will remain at Elland Road at least until 2020-21.
The Whites hierarchy will certainly hope that Cooper can be one of the players that could potentially spearhead a promotion challenge this season. It is no secret that the Yorkshire giants are eyeing a return to the top flight following a thirteen year absence.
