Everton reportedly failed with deadline day bid for African attacker

According to reports, Everton tried to sign Senegal forward Khouma Babacar on transfer deadline day but ended up failing.

The Toffees did some of the Premier Leagues most impressive shopping this summer as they recruited the likes of Jordan Pickford, Cuco Martina, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nikola Vlasic, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney.

After losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, the club however failed to find an established striker to replace the Belgian.

Though they managed to sign Sandro, he is untested at Premier League level and could prove to be a risk if he fails to set the ground running.

It has now emerged that Ronald Koeman’s side tried to sign the Babacar on deadline day did not have enough time to complete the deal.

The 24-year-old was impressive last season as he went on to score 14 goals from 29 games during an impressive season. He could have been a good player to recruit to provide support and competition to Sandro up front.
