Spanish striker reportedly to join Liverpool if Coutinho leaves

Costa

Liverpool are expected to bid for Chelsea’s wantaway star Deigo Costa if Coutinho leaves for Barcelona, according to the Daily Express.

Liverpool have remained reluctant to sell their star player but Barcelona are not backing away from their main summer target ,Phillipe Coutinho, despite having three bids rejected by the Reds for the Brazilian playmaker.

The Spanish giants want to make a marquee signing of their own following the departure of Neymar to PSG for a world record fee worth £220 million.

Liverpool, despite their resilience, are expected to let Coutinho leave if their asking price of £150 million is met and are preparing to bid for Deigo Costa as his replacement.

The Brazilian born striker wants out of Chelsea following a text message by Antonio Conte which had informed the 28-year old that he is no longer part of the Italian’s plans for next season.

Although Costa has his mind set on a move back to former club Athletico Madrid (currently serving a transfer ban until January 2018), Liverpool are trying to convince the forward that his future lies in the Premier League.
