Newcastle United star laments Shelvey’s moment of madness

Newcastle footballer Isaac Hayden feels that the result of his Premier League debut could have been different had his side not been reduced to ten men during their 2-0 defeat against Tottenham during the weekend.

Spurs went on to win the match through goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies.

Though the Magpies were competitive during the game, they appeared to lose momentum after Jonjo Shelvey earned himself a red card following a reckless stamp on Alli.

Though the Magpies defence look solid throughout the game, Hayden revealed that he thinks that the red-card changed the game against his teams favor by saying, “You can’t really do much else other than work hard when you have ten men.

“It was an unfortunate situation because I felt we contained them in the first half and we were looking to create a few more chances. The sending off killed the game really.”
