Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is exploring the possibility of signing a new striker this summer due to the fitness issues surrounding Leigh Griffiths.
As a result of a calf strain, Giffiths came on as a substitute during the Bhoys 1-0 Scottish Premiership win over Partick Thistle.
Celtic looked to be headed for a disappointing result before Olivier Ntcham scored his first goal for the club to seal the three points. It may be a good idea to recruit a new striker especially given that Mousa Dembele is also unlikely to remain at Parkhead for the long-term.
About the possibility of signing a new striker, Rodgers said, “I will definitely have to look at it a little closer now.
“My vision is to have two strikers available and fit, pushing each other. If there’s an unavailability and it’s consistent, then I need to seriously look at that.
“The guys are doing great for us. You look at the games they have come through so far. James Forrest is doing great at times, Tom Rogic has played up front as well. But the dynamic of the team is obviously better when you have a number nine who can actually play the role.”
