Rangers legend Derek Johnstone has revealed that he could like to see the Gers signing Louis Moult this summer.
Moult, who is on the books of Motherwell, is regarded as one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership and scored 18 goals from 34 appearances in all competitions for his club last season.
Johnstone also added that he would choose the 25-year-old Moult ahead of Jamie Walker, who has also been linked with a move to the Gers this summer.
Johnstone said, “This is no disrespect to Kenny Miller, but at 37-years-old he shouldn’t be the best striker at Rangers. Other players have to come to the fore this season and I would like to see another forward come in between now and the transfer window closing as well.
“That is the one area of the team that I still have reservations over and I think we still need a natural centre-forward in the side.
“I keep mentioning Louis Moult. He scored a lot of goals for Motherwell last season and he is someone that is an out-and-out striker.”
Rangers will need to sign new strikers this summer. They cannot continue to rely on 37-year-old Kenny Miller to be their main source of goals especially if they want to re-establish themselves as a dominant force in Scottish football and Moult is a good option.
