Newcastle Boss reportedly pursuing Arsenal Forward- “I like the player”

Speaking after the pre-season game against Hellas Verona, Rafa Benitez gave a clear indication of his interest in Arsenal’s Lucas Perez. As reported by Express, Rafa Benitez said, “I know that he did really well. He’s come here and not played in many games, but I like the player.”

Lucas Perez had a very disappointing spell at Arsenal. Despite making the most of the chances that were awarded to him, he failed to impress Arsene Wenger.

Moreover, Arsenal has been disrespectful towards Perez, as his No. 9 Jersey was given to their new signing, Alexander Lacazette, without any prior mention to Perez.

Benitez has accepted that there will be more signings by the end of the summer transfer window. “We know what we need and will try to do it until the end of the transfer window,” said Benitez.

However, Benitez is unwilling to match the £13.4million price tag put up for Perez by Arsenal. Instead, Benitez is interested in a loan move for the striker, who is in a search for more first team game time. Arsenal want a permanent deal, so a move to Newcastle is unlikely at the moment.
