Tottenham blow as £36million-rated midfield target reportedly edges to Camp Nou switch

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are interested in landing OGC Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri after the sales of Neymar left them with much of cash to splash.

The Ivory Coast international is also being linked with a Tottenham move, as Mauricio Pochettino reportedly sees him as the perfect replacement for the ageing Mousa Dembele.

Arsenal and PSG are also keen to land Seri who hasn’t been short of suitors following his head-turning performances in the Ligue 1 last term.

The 26-year-old, who carved out 9 assists and weighed in 7 goals in 34 league games last term, has a £36million-release clause in his contract, and he won’t be leaving Nice for anything less.

Spurs, though also offering Champions League football like Barcelona aren’t likely to win the race for the battle, as it is the Catalan giants that are frontrunners at the moment.

Seri claims he wants to move to where regular football is guaranteed.

Surprisingly, he has more chances at getting that at Barca than Spurs given how the Blaugranas have struggled heavily in midfield.

Seri would have been a great cover and solid option for manager Mauricio Pochettino, though.

Besides not having the spending power to compete for his signature, not able to offer him a starting berth also counts against Tottenham.
