Everton have been dealt a transfer blow after their top target Nikola Kalinic agreed terms with AC Milan.
Kalinic grabbed the attention of many clubs last season after scoring 15 goals for Fiorentina and the Croatian international is said to have been viewed as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku by Ronald Koeman.
However, Milan, who are undergoing a major squad revamp, are now in the lead to sign the 29-year-old after they gave a thumbs up to a four year deal worth £50,000-a-week for the striker.
That said, they still have to agree a fee with Fiorentina after their first bid of £20 million was rejected for being too low.
Everton may now have to look elsewhere for a new striker ahead of next season. Though they have Sandro Ramirez to call upon, he is very young and untested in the Premier League which means that it will be worthwhile to recruit someone with experience.
