Cuco Martina has reportedly waved his international team-mates goodbye ahead of a move to Everton. The defender is expected to join the Toffees as cover for Seamus Coleman and Mason Holgate.
Martina has reportedly left the Curaçao team, where he was participating in the Concacaf Gold Cup in order to complete the move to the Merseyside club. He captained his national team to a 2-0 loss on Sunday night against Jamaica.
Ronald Koeman’s team are said to have submitted a £1.25 million offer for Martina in August 2016, which Southampton rejected as they wished to hold on to the player as a backup option but he is now set to arrive to Goodison on a free.
Koeman and Martina will know each other well as it was the Dutchman who brought the player to England whilst he was manager of Southampton from Dutch Club Jong Twente.
Martina will likely be used as mentor for Jonjoe Kenny as the youngster is not as yet ready to play in the Premier League on a regular basis.
