New Sunderland boss Simon Grayson has revealed that Aiden McGeady is trying to convince Everton to allow him to link up with the Black Cats ahead of next season.
The Republic of Ireland international McGeady has fallen down the pecking order at the Toffees and spent last season on loan with Preston North End.
The Black Cats are reportedly willing to pay £2million to sign McGeady and speaking after his club’s 3-2 pre-season victory over Bury, Grayson confirmed that the player is speaking to his club about a possible move.
He said, “Ty is a lot closer. McGeady is talking to Everton about a few bits and bobs. Hopefully those will get done and we are talking to other clubs too about other things as well.”
It is unlikely that McGeady will form part of Ronald Koeman’s plans at Everton next season and considering this, there is a good chance that a transfer will go ahead.
