Tottenham reportedly in pole position to sign 21-year-old attacker; £17million fee mooted

Recent European U21 Championship winner Max Meyer comes off a great tournament for the Germans in Poland and that has seen him being linked even more strongly with a move to some top sides this summer.

The 21-year-old has long been linked with Liverpool, but according to Football.london, the Schalke man is closer to signing for Tottenham than he is to signing for the Reds or for fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

The report states that he “is available for a price… around £17m as he has indicated that he is not looking to extend his deal with Schalke, which has less than 12 months to run.”

This would be a big move for either side, and it would certainly do a lot to appease fans of Spurs that are calling on the club to do something.

Meyer fits the bill for them as he is young, can play a pressing game, and has a tremendous upside to him. He also is at a very reasonable price given the current market, so this might just be a deal that gets pushed through in the coming weeks.
