Liverpool are planning to move for Benfica forward Raul Jimenez as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to further bolster their attacking options ahead of next season, according to the Mirror.

The Primeira Liga giants are said to be open to offers for the 26-year-old Mexican striker, as he continues to be linked with a move to the English top flight with West Ham, Liverpool and Everton wanting his signature.

West Ham were believed to be leading the pursuit, having initiated proposals for Raul since his days at Atletico Madrid.

Raul missed out on a proposed loan deal to the Boleyn Ground last season after he had apparently overslept and missed his flight ahead of a medical at the club, before eventually moving to Benfica from Madrid.

Everton have had a fantastic start to this transfer season and look to continue their spending spree. The Toffees are believed to have made a bid worth £39 million for Raul amid reports Manchester United have agreed on a deal to sign Lukaku for £75 million.

Liverpool had been plagued with several injuries at crucial times last season, which had affected their title push both in the domestic and Europa League.

Raul Jimenez might play an active role as the rotational player for Klopp due to Daniel Sturridge unfortunate fitness issues that limit his ability to support Roberto Firmino throughout next season.
