This Saturday, July 8, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific) Cruz Azul will play Toluca at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas for a friendly match. Both teams will look to be title contenders in the Apertura 2017 and should present an intriguing encounter this Saturday.
Cruz Azul has had a subtle offseason, just recently picking up steam with the signings of the Chilean forward, Felipe Mora and the Spanish winger, Edgar Mendez. Paco Jemez still counts with a rigid squad but should look for a couple more key signings to strengthen the team. It will be interesting to see if Mora or Mendez get any minutes in this match and how they can do against a tough opponent in Toluca. Cruz Azul will be looking to forget its Clausura 2017 campaign and have a successful offseason which translates into a fruitful Apertura 2017.
Toluca has had an even quieter offseason, not making any huge signings with the inclusions of Mateus Goncalves from Chiapas and Santiago Garcia from Werder Bremen being the biggest additions to the team. While some key players are likely to get the nod for Los Diablos there should still be some bench and reserve players on the field.
Hernan Cristante counts with three Americans on his squad in Andy Garcia, Marco Jaime and Rodrigo Lopez. It will be interesting to see if the young Mexican-American players do get a chance to start in this game on American soil. The match should be an interesting one with both teams looking to test out some players ahead of the next Liga MX season.
