As 90min reports, Southampton has issued a warning to both Liverpool and Tottenham, saying that their star defenders are “not for sale.”
Southampton’s executive director Les Reed has stated that Virgil van Dijk and Cedric Soares are off the market and that the new manager Mauricio Pellegrino sees them as part of the team for the upcoming season.
The Spurs have not yet placed an official bid for Soares, but the 25-year-old right-back could be an ideal replacement for Kyle Walker if the latter decides to leave North London and join Manchester City.
A host of other clubs are also interested in the Portuguese defender, including Everton and Barcelona.
It seems that the Spurs do not want to repeat the mistakes made by Liverpool, who reportedly approached Virgil van Dijk without permission and they had to apologize to Southampton for making the aberration.
