Alex McLeish believes that the addition of John Terry would be valuable to the Aston Villa side.
Villa are currently listed as one of the favorites to sign the Chelsea legend, with some sources claiming that he prefers a move to Villa Park.
After ending his two decade career with Chelsea at the end of last season, Terry is currently considering offers from the likes of Villa, Birmingham City, Bournemouth as well as from several overseas clubs.
Whilst speaking about Terry possibly linking up with Villa next season, McLeish said, “John Terry is a guy who has a lot to give to football. He has been in the game as a player a long, long time.
“His experience is absolutely marvellous. If he does his coaching badges then he is going to be in a group of coaches all looking for jobs in a couple of years times or so. His experience is amazing.
“John knows the legs are not what they used to be. But if you remember a guy I took up to Motherwell, Rob Newman, it was as a centre half I brought him to us and he absolutely shored the defence brilliantly.
“He couldn’t really move but his experience, his positioning, his organisation of everybody was absolutely outstanding and we sailed to safety in the Premier League.”
Despite being in his late 30’s, Terry will be able to provide valuable leadership and mentorship to the side that he ends up joining.
