Everton veteran Phil Jagielka has spoken out about rumors linking him with a move to Sheffield United. Though Jagielka has been a mainstay of the Everton first team for many years, he was given limited game time by Ronald Koeman this past season, which has reportedly led to Sheffield United displaying interest in signing the player, who is a product of their youth ranks.
Jagielka did reveal that he feared for his future at Goodison Park this past season, though he began to regain confidence and feel part of the team towards the end, as he found himself back in the starting lineup.
While addressing the rumors linking him with a move to his boyhood club, Jagielka said, “If there was, obviously I wouldn’t be coming on the radio discussing it! That is a nice try.”
The likelihood is that the 34 year old Jagielka will remain with the Toffees for at least another season. The club will look to benefit from his experience.
