As Sky sources report, Tottenham Hostpur defender Kyle Walker is set to begin talks with Manchester City over a potential move to Etihad.

Pep Guardiola is interested in bringing in Walker this summer, even though the England international signed a five-year contract with the Spurs last year.

Also, the asking price for the versatile right back is reportedly exceeding £50 million, with City willing to offer “only” £40 million.

However, it seems that Kyle Walker will be changing colors this summer, and after eight years at White Hart Lane – he is likely to move north by joining Manchester City.

After the departure of Pablo Zabaleta, Guardiola is looking for a replacement on the right side of his defensive lineup.

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of the Spurs, has shown more faith in Kieran Trippier during the latter parts of last season, and it seems that Walker is not in his long-term plans.

  1. £40 million was just the amount City had their friends in the media put about as how much they were “prepared to pay” as part of the now familiar tapping-up process. It has no basis in reality. City would have known, even then that they would likely have to pay more. Walker is coming into his peak years and on a long contract. City paid £50 million for John Stones and the market is inflated thanks in no small part to oil clubs like City. He is English and homegrown, with City struggling to fill their quotas in this regard. City are direct rivals and allegedly refusing to sell to Spurs as they are direct rivals. They have publicly and blatantly tapped-up Walker. Does any really believe that Daniel Levy will not squeeze them until the pips squeak in these circumstances?
