According to reports from the Daily Record, Sheffield United are looking to sign Celtic winger Gary Mackay-Steven this summer.
After Sheffield failed to make a deal with the management from Celtic Park several weeks ago, they will allegedly try to negotiate once more.
Sheffield United finally reached the Championship this season, after six years in English League One, and they are looking to strengthen the squad in order to preserve their spot in the second tier of English football.
Mackay-Steven would be a good addition for Sheffield United but the Hoops seem to have other plans for him. It has been claimed that if Celtic’s talks with Manchester City for Patrick Roberts falls through, Mackay-Steven will stay in Glasgow.
Also, one other thing could be problematic for United in their hopes of signing Mackay-Steven and that is the price. Mackay-Steven joined Celtic in 2015 for a sum of £250,000, and at this moment his value is far higher, since he has two years more on his contract.
