Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe has confirmed that his move to Bournemouth is imminent and that he has had a medical with the club.
Despite Sunderland having a disastrous past season and being relegated to the Championship, Defoe showed that he can still perform at the highest level by scoring 15 goals in the Premier League. He will also hope that his move can help him earn a place in the England squad for the 2018 World Cup.
When asked about the move to Bournemouth, Defoe said, “Well, yeah. It’s out there, a lot of people obviously knew. I did a medical and said when this is finished and I’ve had a break, come July everyone will know anyway.”
Should the move go ahead, it will not be Defoe’s first stint with the Cherries. As a teenage, he spent the 2000-01 season on loan with the club from West Ham and scored in ten successive matches.
