Goalkeeper Pau Lopez has confirmed that Tottenham are in talks with his parent club Espanyol over extending his deal with the English club.
The 22-year-old did not make a senior appearance for the Spurs side this past season, though the club are interested in bringing him back ahead of next season.
He mainly served as third choice behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in the goalkeeping pecking order at the club.
Lopez said, “We’ll see what happens. The clubs are talking and I can’t say anything. Espanyol is my home. It’s the club that I love, that I’ll always have in my heart, and whatever happens, I’ll be happy.”
Should Lopez return to Spurs, the club may decide to offload Vorm. During his three seasons at the club, the 33-year-old Vorm has only made nine appearances in the Premier League and as a quality keeper, he will be frustrated by a lack of first team action.
