Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark has claimed that manager Rafa Benitez has united the squad both on and off the pitch.
In only his first full season in charge of the Magpies, Benitez led the team to the Championship title and a return to the Premier League following relegation from the top flight during the 2015-16 season.
Clark was one of the success stories for the Magpies last season and formed a solid defensive partnership with club captain Jamaal Lascelles.
The defender has now gone on praise Benitez’s influence in the squad by saying, “Despite the number of new signings everyone settled in really quickly.
“That was credit to the staff and the players that were already here – they made us all feel so welcome. I think that has shown when we have gone out on the pitch.”
Newcastle are expected to make many signings this summer as they look to bolster their side ahead of its Premier League return.
