Sunderland reportedly set to agree deal with Turkish side for attacker

According to reports, Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens is set to join Turkish club Besiktas after Fenerbahce have appeared to pull out of the race to sign him.

Lens is not wanted by Sunderland, who are looking to get him off their salary list. The Dutch international Lens spent the past season on loan with Fenerbahce and operated on the wings, playing in 38 matches in all competitions and scoring five goals as well as recording 17 assists in the process.

During his time with Sunderland, Lens failed to impress and reportedly also had a fallout with the team’s management.

The Black Cats are keen to sell him in order to recoup some of the cash that they paid Dynami Kyiv to buy him in 2015. With Fenerbahce reportedly pulling out of the race to sign the 29-year-old, he could be joining Besiktas.

Lens currently boasts 8 goals from 33 appearances for the Netherlands national team.
