Mark McGhee is confident that the Celtic members of the Scotland squad can lead the nation to a shock victory over Scotland this Saturday.
Six members of Gordon Stachan’s squad were part of the Bhoys treble winning successes this past season and those are Kieran Tierney, Craig Gordon, Scott Brown, Stuart Brown, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths.
McGhee feels that the high confidence among the Celtic players currently can translate into good form on the pitch against the Three Lions.
McGhee said, “I think that’s important. That’s why we played the six lads: they brought a confidence and an understanding between each other which added something to the team.
“Like you said, I scored the goal in the cup final and a week later I scored against England so hopefully that’s an omen. I definitely went into that match confident and I’m sure they will too.”
Scotland will definitely go into the match as underdogs. England forward Harry Kane is on a tremendous run of form having notched 29 goals from 30 appearances in the Premier League this past season and his threat will have to be curbed should Scotland wish to get something from the game.
