Former Derby County boss Nigel Pearson has emerged as a favorite to become new Sunderland boss according to reports. The Black Cats have been without a manager since David Moyes resigned as manager at the end of this past season.
Pearson, who has been without a job since leaving Derby in October, is also a contender for the vacant Middlesbrough job.
Other names that are on the Sunderland shortlist include Aberdeen manager Derek Mclnnes as well as Paul Lambert and former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew.
Pearson certainly has the experience of taking clubs to the Premier League and was actually manager of Leicester City when they achieved promotion to the English top flight during the 2013-14 season.
The Sunderland managerial job will not be easy, especially considering that the club are likely to lose a lot of its core players this summer and are under financial constraints. However should Pearson receive a firm offer, it is hard to see him turning it down.
