Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris French broke a national team record last Friday which was previously held by 1998 World Cup winning goalkeeper Fabien Barthez.
The France and Spurs captain kept a clean sheet during Les Bleus’s 5-0 demolition of Paraguay and also made his 88th international appearance to make himself the most capped French goalkeeper in history.
The rout for Les Bleus came via a hat-trick from Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud who became the first Frenchman to score an international hat-trick in 17 years while Antoine Griezmann and Lloris’s out of favor Spurs team-mate Moussa Sissoko added further goals.
At just 30-years-old, it is likely that Lloris will go on to surpass 100 international appearances for his country. He is also likely to lead France at the 2018 World Cup where they will be among the favorites to lift the trophy.
