Former Chelsea assistant coach Ray Wilkins believes that Tottenham should swoop for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann as he could help them challenge for the Premier League title.
Spurs finished second in the Premier League this past season, six points behind champions Chelsea. There is no doubt that they will aim to once again challenge for the Premier League aim for major silverware next season.
Vincent Janssen has failed to provide support to Harry Kane this past season in terms of contributing goals to the Spurs cause and many fans would certainly want the North London club to sign a new quality striker.
Manchester United were strongly linked with the signature of Grizmann though it seems that they have now cooled their interest.
Wilkins now strongly believes that Tottenham should swoop for the Frenchman and said, “They need to spend in a forward position because if Harry Kane gets injured, they’re going to struggle.
“Wouldn’t Tottenham look wonderful with (Hugo) Lloris, that back three of (Eric) Dier, (Jan) Vertonghen, (Toby) Alderweireld, (Danny) Rose on the left, (Kyle) Walker on the right, (Victor) Wanyama and (Mousa) Dembele, Dele, Griezmann, Harry Kane.”
