Former Celtic midfielder Billy Stark believes that Aberdeen ace Jonny Hayes is a suitable replacement for Patrick Roberts, who is set to return to parent club Manchester City.
Roberts played a crucial role this season in helping the Bhoys win the treble. His impressive displays have however alerted his parent club City, who now look to have him in their side next season.
Roberts even established himself as a fan-favorite at Parkhead by refusing the chance to play for the England under 21’s in the European Championships this summer so that he could concentrate on helping Celtic win the Scottish Cup which they did.
The Irishman Stark, believes that Hayes is the best man for Celtic to sign as a replacement for Roberts and said, “I see the logic in Celtic going for Hayes and you would link that to their hopes of keeping Roberts.
“Celtic will know roughly where they are with the player and what he wants or if Man City are willing to sell for a reasonable price.”
