Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko has reportedly informed his club that he wishes to depart this summer. After arriving at Spurs last summer from Newcastle United in a deal worth £30 million, a lot was expected from Sissoko.
However he failed to establish himself within the squad and managed only eight starts in the Premier League this season.
Sissoko reportedly is determined to make the France squad for the 2018 World Cup and he feels that his chances may be boosted by moving to a club where he will play more regularly.
‘I don’t think [the fee] will be a problem,’ Sissoko told L’Equipe. ‘They know I am no longer a kid. I am 27 and I need to get to the World Cup.
‘If a situation arrives where I can leave, I hope they don’t cause problems. Everyone knows that I would prefer to stay in England but I have not closed the door on other leagues.’
Though Sissoko has been called up for France’s upcoming friendlies against Paraguay and England next month, he will have to play regularly if he wants to feature for Les Blues in the World Cup next year where his nation are likely to be one of the favorites to win the trophy.
