This Wednesday, May 31, 2017 (4:00 AM Pacific) Zambia will play Germany in the round of 16 in the 2017 U20 World Cup at the Jeju World Cup Stadium in Jeju, South Korea. Both teams were strong in the group stages and will look to keep that going in the knockout stages.
Zambia was one of the most surprising teams in the competition finishing in first in Group C with six points ahead of Portugal, Costa Rica and Iran. The African side defeated Portugal and Iran but finished the group stages with a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica. That loss could mean that Zambia will head into this game with a lack of momentum which could be detrimental in this tournament.
Germany finished in third place with four points in Group B behind Mexico and Venezuela. The Europeans started their campaign with a left foot falling to Venezuela 2-0 but then picked it up with a draw to Mexico and a 3-2 victory against Vanuatu. That win against Vanuatu will mean that Germany will go into this game with plenty of momentum that may carry the team past this round of 16. The match should be entertaining between two distinct sides and should provide a hard-fought encounter.
