According to reports, Aston Villa are the favorites to sign Alex Bruce, who is the son of their manger Steve, following the players release from Hull City.
The 32-year-old spent the first half of last season on the sidelines due to injury and for the second half of the campaign; he was on loan with Championship outfit Wigan Athletic, where he only managed two appearances.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes have now suggested that the likelihood is that Bruce will once again link up with his father at Villa. The father and son previously linked up at Birmingham City as well as Hull City during their managerial and playing careers respectively.
Villa are looking to bring in new defenders this summer and Bruce could be one of the additions made in order to provide more options.
However, as Bruce has not played regularly for a long time and may lack match fitness, the Villians will also need to sign other defenders.
