Crushing Tottenham’s title aspirations ‘an achievement’ says West Ham attacker

West Ham United striker Ashley Fletcher has revealed that ending Tottenham’s title hopes this season was a great achievement for his side.

Tottenham travelled to the London Stadium earlier this month and were favorites to beat The Hammers as they looked to continue their title push. However a goal from Manuel Lanzini was sufficient to consign the Lilywhites to a shock 1-0 defeat.

Fletcher said as per West Ham’s official website, “Obviously getting on in a London derby against Spurs, I know how much it means to the fans. So for us to win the game as we did and end their title hopes was a good achievement.”

With the victory, the Hammers also saw their top flight status extended for another season after they had flirted with relegation due to some poor performances during the season.

The 21-year-old Fletcher has only made four substitute appearances this season and will be looking to break into the first team ahead of next season.
