Arouna Kone is set to leave Everton on a free transfer at the end of the season, as he is not part of Ronald Koeman’s future plans, per report from the Liverpool Echo. The 33 year old is hoping to find a club that is in the Premier League. Kone had come close to joining Crystal Palace during the January transfer window, though the deal fell through.
Koeman and Kone had previously worked together at PSV Eindhoven, however, the Ivorian has only made several appearances in all competitions this season scoring two goals. Due to Koeman being an admirer of young talent and wanting fresh strikers during the summer, Kone will definitely leave the team.
Due to his vast experience, he is not to be short of offers, possibly from mid-table and newly promoted clubs. Since arriving at Goodisan Park in 2013, Kone never managed to become Everton’s first choice striker.
Overall, he has scored ten goals from 60 games in all competitions for the Merseyside club. A disappointing performance from an experienced striker that was expected to do better.
