Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers rates his club captain, Scott Brown, as one of the greatest midfielders in Britain, and was surprised that he did not win the Player of the Year award.
Rodgers also adds that he feels that the 32 year old performs a similar role for the Hoops as N’Golo Kante does for Chelsea.
Whist talking about Brown not being included among the nominees of the Player of the Year award, Rodgers said via Express, “I am very surprised. I look at Kante down south, a central midfield player who is not flash and does the dirty work – but does it to a real top level.
Brown still could win the Scottish Football Writers Association Award, but will face competition from the likes of his team-mates Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair.
There is no doubt that Brown played a crucial role in leading Celtic this season in what has been one of their most successful seasons in history.
