Sky Sports Pundit Phil Thompson believes that there is “no chance whatsoever” of Sunderland avoiding relegation from the Premier League this season.
With eight games remaining in the Premier League season, the Black Cats are ten points adrift of safety and the chances of them avoiding the drop are definitely very unlikely especially given their current form.
Injuries to key players throughout the season as well as a failure by the clubs board to add talented players to support dynamic veteran Jermain Defoe as well as talented goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is perhaps what has cost David Moyes team this season.
While speaking on Sky News Premier League Daily, Thompson said, “No (there is no chance of Sunderland staying up), because this was one of the better performances.
“He would have been so pleased with how things were going, but as you are when you are down there, they had a penalty shout in the first half and then there was a slight push from Kone for the goal.”
