Sunderland ace Jermain Defoe has made a surprising revelation by saying that it was Frenchman Louis Saha, who prevented him from signing for Manchester United.
At 34, Defoe is a veteran of the Premier League and one of the most experienced strikers in the English top tier. During his successful career, he has played and scored goals for Tottenham, West Ham, Pourtsmouth and currently Sunderland.
Prior to joining Tottenham in 2004, Defoe had been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal. When asked by Fourfourtwo about why he did not join United, he responded saying, “Louis Saha had gone to United already and he was on fire.”
Defoe has continued his good form this season, bagging 14 goals for Sunderland who are etched to the bottom of the Premier League standings.
With it looking increasingly likely that the Black Cats will be relegated this season, he will in all likelihood sign for a new club next season and he tries to win a place in England’s 2018 World Cup squad.
