Rodgers makes surprise claims about Celtic’s chances in the English Premier League

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that his side would finish in the top 6 if they were playing in the English Premiership. The former Liverpool boss has done a fantastic job with the Hoops this season, leading them to their sixth successive Scottish Premiership title with eight matches to spare.

“Could we play in the Premier League? Yes, we could,” he told Sky Sports. “Celtic would be one of the minimum top four, top six clubs in the English Premier League and then that puts you on a different level altogether.”

Considering that he has managed in the Premier League before with Swansea as well as Liverpool, Rodgers will be familiar with the football conditions in both countries.

However his comments are very questionable. The quality of football in Scotland and England is of a vast contrast and this is demonstrated by the fact that Scottish teams have struggled to compete in the UEFA Champions League for over a decade.
