In week 29 of La Liga, Valencia will host Deportivo La Coruña at the Mestalla stadium this Sunday, April 2, 2017 (9:30 AM Pacific). Both teams are lower in the standings this season but can still provide an entertaining match with some goals.
Valencia has had a disappointing campaign in 14th place with 30 points, having good players but unable to get the results. The biggest thing that has been missing for the ‘murcielagos’ this season has been a consistent goal-scorer with Santi Mina and Munir El Haddadi leading the way with five goals each. Nobody on this team has been able to fill the void Paco Alcacer left behind, with his 13 goals in 25 games he had last season.
The most intriguing player to watch on Valencia will be Luis Nani who has been a solid player providing three goals and six assists. This should be a game that Valencia can win, but Deportivo should still be able to provide a hard-fought duel.
Deportivo La Coruña has also had a shaky season, currently in 15th place with 27 points, six points ahead of Sporting Gijon in 18th place. The ‘turcos’ are coming from a 1-0 loss to Celta de Vigo, but before that in week 25 of the competition had a shocking 2-1 win over FC Barcelona. The win is easily the highlight of Deportivo’s campaign and it showed the improbability of La Liga.
The Blue and Whites have had a fairly consistent goal-scorer this season in Florin Andone who has eight goals in this competition. The Romanian striker will be one of the main players to watch in this game, along with Celso Borges who has six goals in La Liga. The match should be an interesting encounter with both teams needing the three points and having the potential to put on a good display.
