Everton and Liverpool reportedly battle to sign striker with £10million release clause

Hawaiian born striker Bobby Wood is having the season of his career so far after having made his debut in the Bundesliga this season.

The 24 year old has scored nine times for his new club Hamburg after impressing last season in Bundesliga 2, and he’s said to have been scouted by a number of clubs.

Among the clubs from England that are said to have scouted the striker are Liverpool and their inner city rivals Everton. It’s said that Wood has a release clause of just £10m, which is why so many sides are supposedly so interested (according to Bild; via 90min).

Wood is a good striker that has taken a little while to bloom. This just seems a little too early for him to move. He’s just getting settled in first division football right now, and it would be a big mistake for him to move to a club where he will not get guaranteed time on the pitch.

This is not the type of signing that fans of the Reds will like very much. Wood would require time to bed in to the side, and he’s not a glossy enough signing to appease most fans. This would end poorly for all involved, and it’s best left for the rumor mill.
