Sunderland fans are keen for David Moyes to lure veteran striker Dimitar Berbatov to the club according to HITC. Despite there being no transfer window currently, Berbatov is eligible to sign for a new club as he is a free agent.
Following his release from PAOK, Berbatov has expressed his desire to return to top level football. Sunderland did not manage to do much business during the January transfer window and were in search of a new striker which they failed to add. They were interested in Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa but a deal fell through at the last minute.
Berbatov is a proven goal scorer having had successful stints with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
At 36, he is definitely past his prime and may not be able to deliver the same level of performance that he did ten years ago. However he could provide valuable support up front to Jermain Defoe.
