Moyes explains what impact Lescott has had at Sunderland

Sunderland manager David Moyes has claimed that new recruit Joleon Lescott has made a positive impact within the team’s dressing room.

The 34 year old, who has vast experience playing in the Premier League, having previously turned out for Manchester City and Everton, was lured by Moyes after an unsuccessful stint with Greek Club AEK Athens.

Lescott was brought into the squad to provide cover for John O’Shea, Lamine Kone and Papy Dijlobodji. The veteran is unlikely to feature regularly and play a key role moving forward, however Moyes does feel that his leadership skills have helped the club positively.

Moyes said, “Joleon’s had a massive impact on the dressing room because he’s a leader, a really good organiser when he’s on the pitch. He’s an experienced player, he knows a lot of them as well and he’s had a big impact on the dressing room.”

Having previously worked together at Everton, Moyes will certainly know Lescott well and be confident that his presence will assist the Black Cats to avoid relegation.
