Leeds Utd allegedly suffer setback in 19-year-old winger pursuit

Leeds Utd have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Norwich City winger Sergi Canos. The White were consistently linked with the 19-year-old Spaniard throughout January, but now it seems like the player won’t be coming to Elland Road.

According to Phil Hay of Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds manager Gary Monk only wants to sign the 19-year-old on an initial loan deal, with an option to buy. However, the Canaries are only prepared to discuss a permanent deal. Hay revealed the news on his Twitter page.

Canos is also attracting interest from Brentford, where he had a successful loan spell last season. He joined Norwich from Liverpool for £2.5m last summer.

However, there is some good news for Leeds fans on the front of West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher. Hay claims that Gary Monk is still very much interested in the 21-year-old, who joined the Hammers from Man United last summer.
