Tottenham star not ruling out return to former side in the future

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela has refused to rule out a move back to Roma, in an interview with Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web.

Lamela joined Tottenham Hotspur from Roma during the summer of 2013 for a club record fee of around £30 million and although the winger struggled during his debut season at White Hart Lane, he has managed to impress over the past two seasons.

Lamela is now considered as one of the most integral players for Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino and judging by his performances in pre-season, the 24-year-old looks set to play a big part for Spurs during the upcoming campaign as well.

Lamela talks about potential Roma return

Despite his wonderful turnaround at White Hart Lane though, Lamela has consistently been linked with a move away from Tottenham and a transfer back to Italy has been seen as a possibility for the Argentine international.

However, the attacker went on to emphatically state earlier this month that he is not looking to leave Tottenham anytime soon.

Nonetheless, Lamela was asked about a potential future return to Roma in an interview with Tutto Mercato Web and the former River Plate star has kept the door open regarding a move back to the Stadio Olimpico..

Hewas quoted saying when asked about a return to Roma, “I do not know. I cannot help but wish the best to this company, the team, the coach and the fans.

“I had a great time in Rome, they made me feel right at home from day one. I spent some wonderful years, I feel great joy when I speak of yellow and red colors.”

However, Tottenham fans should not be too worried as Lamela also stated that he is currently fully focused on Spurs and is looking forward to the upcoming Premier League campaign.

He continued, “My future is here and my concentration is only for Tottenham. There is not much time left before the beginning of the Premier League, I want to give everything for this club”.
