Chelsea reportedly ready to enter agreement for striker at £46.5 million

Costa

Premier League giants Chelsea have placed an asking price of around £46.5 million for striker Diego Costa, according to reports from Tutto Mercato Web

Diego Costa enjoyed a wonderful debut campaign after joining Chelsea at the start of the 2014/15 season and his 20 goals in 26 games proved to be crucial in helping the Blues lift the Premier League title.

Chelsea endured a terrible season last year though and even the 27-year-old was unable to produce his best, especially under former manager Jose Mourinho.

In addition to his poor form, Costa endured a number of disciplinary problems as well and there have now been widespread talks this summer that the striker is not entirely happy at Stamford Bridge currently.

Atletico Madrid have made it no secret of their desire to sign Costa and even the Spanish international is believed to be keen on heading back to La Liga.

Chelsea understandably do not want to lose the services of Costa but given the fact that the Blues are currently pursuing the services of Romelu Lukaku for a record fee, it seems that the Premier League side are open to parting with their star man.

In a further update, claims have been made by Tutto Mercato Web that Chelsea are open to listening to offers for Costa but have placed a hefty £46.5 million on the former Braga man.

It remains to be seen as to whether Atletico Madrid will be ready to splash such an amount to sign Costa but with Chelsea’s stance on the striker changing, the transfer coming into fruition remains a strong possibility.
