Arsenal are reportedly the favorites over Chelsea to sign Spanish international and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to The Mirror. It is being reported that Morata could be sold for around £65 million.
The 23 year old Morata played in Serie A for Juventus last season, but Real Madrid then activated a £23 million buyback clause in his contract.
Real will now likely make a major profit on a big transfer fee generated by Morata this summer, as he is being pursued by both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Morata played in 34 league games for Juventus last season, scoring 7 goals with 7 assists. He also had a very impressive tournament at Euro 2016, where he scored 3 goals in 4 matches for the Spanish National Team.
Morata would be a good fit for Arsenal, as they are in need of a striker. He would probably be an upgrade over Arsenal’s current strikers, and he would get a lot of playing time if he signed with the Gunners.
It is being reported that Arsenal are the favorites to sign Morata over Chelsea because Morata wants to play in Champions League next season. This is great news for the Gunners, as it seems like they have a good chance to sign the Spanish striker.
