One player who has been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge ever since Conte’s appointment, is Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci. The Italian defender is closely followed by Chelsea’s league rivals Manchester City, who already launched a bid for the player, but Bonucci wants a move to Stamford Bridge, claims The Sun. The deal is expected to cost Chelsea a whooping £38 million for the 29-year-old.
Leonardo Bonucci is one the best defenders in Europe. It was his partnership with Barzagli and Cheillini which handed Italy a smooth yet robust defense in the tournament. The defense trio was one of the best defences in EURO 2016.
Leonardo Bonnucci will bring experience and maturity to Conte’s Chelsea. Both having worked together previously at Juventus and recently in the Italian National Team, they know each other very well.
Bonucci’s move to Stamford Bridge has been imminent ever since Conte was announced to take over the reigns. Also, John Terry’s physical fitness has been a reason for concern in the Chelsea camp.
When a manager opts to play with a 3-5-2, he needs to make sure that his defenders are physically fit to rock right through 90 minutes week-in and week-out. In such a case, depending on John Terry would be a big mistake to make for Conte.
