Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to German newspaper Sport Bild.
The report suggests the French champions are looking to sign a big name this summer following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure and have already made contact with Schweinsteiger’s representatives.
Paris Saint-Germain have already signed GrzegorzKrychowiak this summer, but are believed to be keen to further strengthen their midfield options.
The 31-year-old, who only moved to United last summer, had to endure a frustrating 2015/16 season, during which he scored 1 goal in 29 appearances for United.
Schweinsteiger failed to make an impact at Old Trafford last season and he also struggled with injuries.
He missed the final two months of the club season through injury, but returned for the start of Germany’s Euro 2016 campaign last month.
It’s not yet clear whether or not he’s part of Mourinho’s plans, but if he isn’t, a move to the French capital would be a good move for all parties involved.
He’d enjoy the slower tempo of French football and would be able to prolong his club career in a league that isn’t as physically demanding as the Premier League.
