Manchester United have inquired about the availability of Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims United are ready to rival Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus for the Armenian international this summer, but will have to pay £25m if they want to bring him to Old Trafford.
Mkhitaryan’s current contract is due to expire at the end of next season and Dortmund are reportedly keen to sell him to the highest bidder this summer in order to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old right winger enjoyed a fantastic season at Dortmund, scoring 18 goals and making 20 assists in 48 appearances for the German runners-up.
Given Manchester United’s desperate need for a quality right winger and Mkhitaryan’s reported availability this summer, it could be a match made in heaven. Mkhitaryan would fit into the team like a glove and would be a massive upgrade on the current options in the squad.
He’s at the right age and is the most realistic option for the right wing, along with Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez and Southampton’s Sadio Mane.
Mkhitaryan would be a great signing for United and would take their attacking play to another level.
