Chelsea reportedly prepare for massive bid from Atletico Madrid

Costa

According to the Daily Star, Diego Costa might be on his way back to Spain with the Spanish side Atletico Madrid keen on having him back. Although, a lot of this depends on what Chelsea and Atletico Madrid do in the summer transfer window.

The Daily star reports that Diego Simeone will remain at Atletico Madrid if the club backs him up with big transfers, and he has marked Costa as his #1 target.

Diego Costa had a classic first season at Stamford Bridge, which saw him clinching the Premier League Title in the 2014/2015 season. But he has been nowhere near the form he showed in the title-winning season and the same is to be said for the rest of his teammates.

The Spaniard scored 16 goals and assisted 7 times in his 41 appearances for Chelsea last season. In his absence, due to injuries, Chelsea lacked the finishing up front, as Diego Costa himself is a physical presence in the forward half of the field.

Costa previously confirmed that he is happy at Stamford Bridge and has no desire of moving away from England. But recent reports suggest that Chelsea are tracking their ex-striker Romelu Lukaku, which might be a concern for Costa. Furthermore, if Atletico Madrid do come in with a massive bid for Costa, Chelsea might accept it, as long as a proper replacement is also in the works.
