Chelsea are ready to make a £40m offer to Atletico Madrid for 25 year-old forward and French international Antoine Griezmann, who is also being looked at by Manchester United, according to British news site Express.co.uk.
Despite rumours that the Spanish club do not want to sell, Chelsea are ready to make a more significant offer to entice the Frenchman, considering there will be no Champions League fixtures at Stamford Bridge next season.
Griezmann has been a big part of Atletico’s success, managing 29 goals in 48 appearances. Chelsea’s incoming manager Antonio Conte is allegedly intent on pairing the Frenchman with Diego Costa in next year’s campaign.
Further rumours have been put forward that the 25 year-old told his friends he was interested in a move to the Premier League, though specifically which club was conveniently not mentioned. Atletico sit second in La Liga table tied with leaders Barcelona while Chelsea currently languish in ninth, tied with Stoke City, but with a game in hand.
